SRK's kids prefer Hrithik as superhero

The actor reveals that his kids choose Hrithik Roshan over him when it comes to playing a superhero.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his most ambitious project of his career Ra.One. It is a huge budget film in which Shah Rukh will be seen as a superhero for the first time. The actor is excited and nervous too. Reason? The actor is scared whether his kids will love him as superhero or not.

SRK reveals that his kids are already a big fan of Krissh and think of Hrithik Roshan as ideal superhero. Both the kids love and admire Hrithik more than their father. Now when Shah Rukh is coming up with a superhero flick of his own, his main aim is to impress his kids along with his fans.

Shah Rukh knows that his competition is with Hrithik and doesn't want to take any chance. Though he can't be as good looking superhero as Hrthik is, he will certainly try to make his stunts bigger than Hrithik's to impress his kids.

It can be recalled that SRK showed the first look of his film to his kids first. We hope SRK manages to impress them.

Dada's my favourite: Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has been zipping in and out of the city and practically jet setting across the country due to his IPL and Bollywood commitments, but whenever the actor comes to his "mother town", he goes on a "childhood" reminiscing mode.

But then, there were other things we just had to ask him and that is how he got talking about these things...

On Sourav Ganguly going to Pune Warriors
I would've loved Dada to play for us, but in the scheme of things that we wanted... I'd like to say something my father used to tell me – 'Sometimes, failure is just an opportunity to begin all over again with more hardness and more intelligence' - and we didn't have just one reason for failing in the last three years, we had lots of them. And what we decided was to start with a clean slate, give the reins of everything to the coaching side, to the team that's going to handle things. I am a sportsman by nature and very sporty about things. I think the choices that were made were wonderful and the team is playing well. As far as Dada is concerned, he's my favourite player, I wish him all the best wherever he goes. One keeps asking about just a player, when I wonder sometimes that Rahul is playing for Rajasthan, Laxman is playing for Kochi, Dhoni is playing for Chennai and players do get sorted. As a matter of fact, players we left have come back to haunt us, like Chris Gayle ... but it's sports and we just need to move forward. Personally, I'd just wish Dada all the best and hope he really, really does very well with whichever team he plays. Hopefully he doesn't play against us and we'll try and make sure that he doesn't score too many runs against us. But if he does, we'll only be too happy. I was the first one to call Ishant and wish him when he got those five wickets. We have a lot of warmth and share everything together... I think as things stand now, we should move on as KKR has moved on, as Dada has moved on...

On Shane Warne's retirement
I have known him for years –before he even started playing for the IPL. He was very friendly with a friend of mine, so we'd met couple of times and sat down together... he has wonderful energy and I wish him all the best. Sourav Ganguly, Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar – these are all greats of sports and you miss them when they stop playing. He plays hard handed poker, I've heard. So, I wish him all the best at poker and I look forward to spending some time with him – hopefully when we all get together at the closing ceremony of the series.

About looking at the option of a new coach
I don't want to sound rude or strange or be misconstrued for what I am saying, but actually, I don't even think about other players and other teams. At this point of time, it's very important for me to concentrate on the team that we have set up together. So, I really don't think about which player, what player, good player, bad player.... At this point, I don't think we need a new coach. Our coach is doing a brilliant job... really working hard with the kids. The start has been fantastic... so, I really don't think about anyone else... fortunately, we have a very young side and that's important because this is not for the next one year, but for the next 4-5 years. I don't really think we need anyone at this time.

On his closeness to Karim Morani, one of the 2G accused
Karim is a very good friend and it's unfortunate... I hope it pans out well for him. As far as friendship is concerned, we only wish him the best and hope things fall into place for him. And it's not embarrassing to talk about your friends.

On the number of watches he has
I have a special cupboard for watches. I always feel... when I was growing older, my dad had this old watch, which I still have and fathers in our times were someone who gave you intelligence, warmth, goodness and their watch. I feel very proud that I have lots of watches to give to my son and my daughter... If I dressed up in watches, I wouldn't need any clothes to cover me!

On Delhi and the sports he played
Main Dilli ki galiyon ka hoon toh mujhe kanche khelne aate hain, mujhe gulli danda khelna aata hai, toote bat ke saath cricket khelna aata hai, football aur hockey khel leta hoon, polo...

I'm in an exciting phase: Arjun Rampal

He's had his share of ups and downs, but now national award winning actor Arjun Rampal has found a firm foothold in Bollywood.

His aim is to be a contributor by bringing good cinema to viewers and says he doesn't want to be a liability.

"I hope I have grown as an actor. I am more comfortable in what I do. I think I understand it better now. I have had opportunities, I had been blessed with opportunities to work with the best in the business and I have learnt a lot from them. I feel there is a nice future and with the experience, I can hope I make good cinema," Arjun told IANS in an interview.

He was here at the Kingdom of Dreams to be a part of a charity fundraiser for quake ravaged Japan.

Arjun's cinematic journey is not unusual. Like other models, after scorching the ramp, he too decided to dazzle on the big screen. But when he debuted in 2001 with " Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat", he had to face disappointment. At that time, no one knew that in future he would deliver such dazzling performances that he would be conferred a national award.

After failures like "Moksha", "Aankhen", "Ek Ajnabee", he got his share of accolades when Farah Khan presented him as a villain opposite Shah Rukh Khan in " Om Shanti Om". The film was a super-hit and so was Arjun's performance as a cold-blooded producer and a mean lover.

Arjun's success mantra was not to give up.

"You should never give up and you should never say no. I think these are negative things. What I know is that I can act, I enjoy, I can contribute and entertain people and that's the belief that keeps me with who I am," said the 38-year-old.

"The day I get bored of what I do and the kind of work that I do, I would not do it. Right now, I am in an exciting phase. The phase that was not going right for me, I was in a phase of discovery, trying to find what is it that I really wanted to do, so again it became exciting on that level," he added.

"People will speculate to whatever levels they have to, but I don't live for those people. I live for my audiences, for bringing good cinema to my audience and being a contributor rather than a liability."

Arjun proved his mettle as an actor with hits like "Don: The Chase Begins", "Rock On" - for which he won a national award for the best supporting role - and "Raajneeti".

Has the people's perspective changed after he won the national award?

"I don't know. I have had a slow start, but I think people who have really believed in me, got really proud especially my family, my friends, who have stood by me. A lot of professional people who I have worked with always said it will happen and when they saw it (happen), that was the highest point in my career and in my life," said Arjun.

His negative portrayal in "Om Shanti Om" and "Raajneeti" won appreciation not only from the critics but also from the audiences.

"I think people like my characters. There is no colour to any character, they are not grey, they are layered, and to find characters that are written like that I think is wonderful. I enjoy playing characters which are more dimensional and more layered rather than being one-dimensional," said Arjun, who has a quite an interesting bouquet of films coming soon.

He has finished shooting for "Rascals" and Shah Rukh Khan's highly anticipated sci-fi thriller "Ra.One".

He has also been roped in for Tigmanshu Dhulia's "Jai Ramji ki", Sudhir Mishra's next venture, a war movie and one more, which he refused to talk about.

'Shah Rukh, Kareena kiss'

Actor Shah Rukh Khan will kiss Kareena Kapoor in 'Ra One'...

Actor Shah Rukh Khan who has been a decent man on screen and off screen all this while, will now go bold for his superhero flick 'Ra One'. There's news that Shah Rukh will do everything and anything necessary to make his movie a rage.

We hear that SRK will kiss on celluloid this time round. And it's the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor he'll lock lips with. The actors kiss each other in a song. It's nothing explicit, but something that can be termed as 'simple and sweet' we are told.

It can be remembered that Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, too, indulged in a romantic lip-to-lip in '3 Idiots'. "I've kissed on screen before, it's no big deal," says the Kapoor lass, who always looks forward to working with the Khans. "All four of them – Aamir, Salman, Shah Rukh, Saif – are so amazing that I always look forward to doing movies with them."

Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) too busy for Yash Chopra

Shah Rukh Khan fans have to wait for his next romantic flick which will be directed by Yash Chopra.

It is believed that the film has been postponed to December, thanks to his involvement in the ongoing IPL and his home production Ra.One. After IPL, Shah Rukh will be busy in the aggressive marketing and promotions of Ra.One, which releases in October. His Don 2 will be releasing in December too thus he will need time for its promotions as well.

According to a source, Yash Chopra who is back to direction after 7 years wants SRK to focus only on one project dedicatedly. Thus the film will commence on December 15 th . Very few know that YRF considers 6 as their lucky number thus the date 15 (1 + 5 = 6) has been chosen to kickstart the project.

This untitled romantic flick will bring Shah Rukh and Katrina Kaif together for the first time.

Shah Rukh Khan turns singer and lyricist

After displaying his vocal skills in the song "Apun Bola Tu MerI Laila" in " Josh", Shah Rukh Khan is once again crooning in his home production " Always Kabhi Kabhi".

Sources in Bollywood say that SRK has also contributed as a music composer and penned down few lines for an item number in his next film. SRK will also feature as an item boy for the same track which was shot at a lavish set in a suburban studio April end.

Red Chilies' film titled, "Always- Kabhi Kabhi" has been by anchor, radio jokey turned ad maker Roshan Abbas and the music is composed by Pritam Chakrobarty.

Sources say, "Both composer and filmmaker were stuck when SRK walked in and within no time the creative enzymes in the actor started following and a melody was conceived.
Shah Rukh also added some punch lines in the song giving it his trademark edginess".
"SRK is so spontaneous and lyrically strong that whenever we were stuck in a tune he instantly contributed with his creative inputs," says music director Pritam who has also worked with the actor during the making of "Billo".
The director Roshan Abbas concludes, "As you are aware SRK is immensely talented and has contributed in the production of the said item song. Pritam and I were hunting for a good track and it was SRK who created magic for us".

SRK to act on small screen again

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan is back to his roots - the small screen. Nearly two decades after featuring in fiction shows like Circus and Fauji, the superstar recently shot a cameo for Colors' new show Sasural Simar Ka

The 45-year-old was quite excited about the shoot, and squeezed in time out of his choc-a-bloc schedule for it, said a source from the channel. The channel arranged to shoot the sequence at Mannat, his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.

"The story appealed to him as Sasural Simar Ka deals with a girl Simar, who can go to any length to make her dreams of a being an expert dancer come true," said the source.

Though the actor kept his strings attached to TV through reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain and Zor Ka Jhatka, this is Shah Rukh's first appearance in a TV serial ever since he achieved star status.

In his cameo in Sasural Simar Ka, Shah Rukh plays judge of a dance reality show Chak Dhoom Dhoom, in which Simar, the protagonist wants to participate without the knowledge of her father.

Actress Deepika Samson, who plays Simar, was on cloud nine after shooting with King Khan.
"It was a lifetime experience to shoot or be around SRK. I froze when I saw Shah Rukh. He made me feel so comfortable. I keep pinching myself to believe that I shot with him," said Samson.

No Shakira for Shah Rukh

Shah Rukh Khan's efforts to rope in sexy pop siren Shakira to shoot a promo for his IPL cricket team have gone kaput.

The singer and the actor were caught up in their own schedules and weren't able to match their timings. So at least this season, SRK won't be getting Shakira to dance and sing for his team. SRK was also hoping to get her to do a special number for his film, at least that's what the buzz was. Unfortunately, that too isn't happening. Better luck next time SRK!

Shah Rukh Khan gets into a brawl

The actor's patience was tested at Maheep Kapoor's birthday bash on Friday...

After Katrina Kaif's birthday bash years ago, Shah Rukh Khan found himself involved in a brawl once again on Friday evening as Maheep Kapoor, wife of Sanjay Kapoor celebrated her birthday at their Juhu residence.

It was producer Mozez Singh - of 'White Noise' fame - who managed to irk the actor, all this at 4:30 a.m! As Mozez Singh was leaving the party and was waiting for the elevator, he noticed Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Karan Johar waiting there, too.

For some odd reason, he began insulting the King Khan, and said nasty things about him. Shah Rukh Khan initially chose to ignore him and his comments, but when the comments didn't stop, SRK got livid. He approached Mozez and caught him by the collar. Mozez, too, tried a stunt or two, but the battling boys were soon separated by Hrithik Roshan and gang.

Host Sanjay Kapoor was quick to come to the scene and handle the situation. He ensured that SRK and his gang leave in one elevator, while Singh leaves in the other after a few minutes.

It is also said that Mozez Singh and Sohail Khan got into a tussle as Mozez passed some lewd remarks on his few lady friends at the party. However, this particular one was sorted out.

Enjoy the first look of the most awaited film this year -- check out Shahrukh in the super-hero flick- RA.One . Releasing this Diwali. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has donned the garb of a superhero in “Ra.One”, says his new film is dedicated to all the fathers in the world.

“Ra.One is a simple story of a father and a son. There have been a lot of movies and songs dedicated to mothers but unfortunately, fathers are ignored. I being a father myself and a part of cinema, decided to give them all some space through my film,” Shah Rukh told reporters here Sunday.

“The film is dedicated to all the fathers in the world. I hope this film will help bring fathers at the front and make me a hero in the eyes of my son,” he added.

The actor, who has two children -- son Aryan, 13, and daughter Suhana, 10 -- with wife Gauri Khan, was named the global ambassador of Kingdom of Dreams situated in Gurgaon. Dressed in a black suit, shirt and tie, the star dazzled in his newly-acquired leaner look.

Aamir mum about SRK's 'Ra One'

Aamir Khan didn't say much when asked what he thought about Shah Rukh's 'Ra One'...

Actor Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are always pitted against each other. Though the two khans are cordial with each other when they meet, there is an undercurrent of healthy competition betweeen them. When Aamir was recently asked what he thought of SRK's 'Ra One' trailers, Aamir conveniently shared that he hadn't yet seen the promos of SRK's film and so couldn't comment on it.

However, when asked if and when we'll get to see him in a superhero avatar, Aamir was quick to say, "I enjoy being hero in my movies, I don't think I can do better than being a hero. So 'superhero' looks impossible as of now."

Aamir Khan launched Darsheel Zafary in Hindi cinema with Taare Zameen Par. The kid plays a superhero in the form of Zokkomon. "I wish him well. He's a great artist. If he can fly, he should!" said Aamir encouragingly.

SRK has no time for friends like me: Juhi

Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla have been friends since their Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman days. Their last film together was Amol Palekar's Paheli.

Since then both have done cameos in each other's films, Bhoothnath, Krazzy 4 and Om Shanti Om cementing a bond, which has stayed as strong unlike many other Bollywood friendships..

They had even formed a partnership and produced films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. But it dissolved. "I think Shah Rukh and I have remained friends because we stopped being business partners. I realise it's impossible to mix business with friendship," says Juhi citing the reason for it.

Admitting the fact that the friendship did have its rough phases, Juhi says, "Our relationship did go through a rough patch.

When I realized our friendship was suffering because of the partnership I chose to keep the friendship and let the business partnership go.

Today after a long gap we're again together in the IPL . Let's hope nothing goes wrong. I got to meet him at the match recently after so long. He has no time for friends like me."

However, at one point in time Shah Rukh had been by Juhi's side when she needed a friend. "When I lost my mother in Prague while shooting for Duplicate in 1998, Shah Rukh was there right beside me like a pillar of strength.

Isn't that what a true friendship is all about?"

Akon wants to act in Bollywood movies

Bollywood is his ultimate goal and India like his second home, Senegalese-American rapper and singer Akon said here Friday.

The "Beautiful" singer, who landed here on his birthday Friday, will be performing in Gurgaon and Bangalore.

"Thank you everyone for having me here. I love India and I keep looking for ways to come here. You guys show more than loyalty towards my art and my career. I don't have words to express my feelings...I hope I get many more opportunities to come here and share my talent with you. I feel like a family here. This is like a second home to me," Akon told reporters here.

He is here for the The Venky's Akon Live In Concert and will perform in Gurgaon and Bangalore.

"I'm waiting to get into Bollywood movies. That's ultimately my goal. I want to do it successfully. I'm not quite sure what character (I would play), but I definitely want to do it," said the singer, who has worked with composer Aadesh Srivastava and also sang a song for Shah Rukh Khan's forthcoming film "Ra.One".

"Working with Shah Rukh was an amazing experience. He opened me up to Bollywood. He made me see a whole new light and the possibilities. I enjoyed it so much that I'm trying to sneak in now," he added.

The singer will celebrate his 38th birthday in Pune and perform before 1,200 people at a private concert in West Inn hotel in the town.

Akon is skipping a Mumbai concert this time but looks forward to performing here soon.

"India is very big, we can't cover a lot in two days. So next time I'm going to do a tour and cover more cities," said the singer, who was dressed in all black and had come to press conference straight from the airport.

The Venky's Akon Live In Concert is being brought to the country by Netsurf Entertainment and B.M. Group and IVNO Events and Productions, in association with Thrive Entertainment and S. Raj Entertainment. Venky's, the single largest poultry brand in Asia, is the title sponsor of the two concerts.

Akon says he loves Indian audiences and the culture of the country.

"Indians never have a hard time expressing themselves, so you get a great crowd here. The most I love about India is its culture. I love the fact that it is so parallel to African culture. They never forgot their history and passed it down to the generations that's why the culture is so strong here. It's amazing. Most cultures do not put emphasis on history. The generations do not forget their traditions and carry on the legacy."

Aamir moves away from SRK

Plans have changed for the actors who were going to come together in Christmas this year...

Actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were all set to clash at the box office on Christmas this year, with the release of Don 2 and Reema Kagti's yet-to-be-titled Aamir-starrer. However, plans seem to have changed.

While Shah Rukh's Don 2 will release in December as scheduled, Kagti's Aamir-starrer will be pushed to release on another day. Reason? Don was a hit, and the so sequel is being looked forward to. Also, Don 2 is made on a big budget. Reema Kagti's film, on the other hand, is a small-budget film.

The producers thought it best to shift the date for the betterment of the production. Aamir Khan let his director and producers decide on when the film should be released. So there'll be no Aamir-SRK clash this year as there was when Ghajini and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi released around the same time in 2008.

Shah Rukh Khan to do Dhoom 5?

If King Khan ever has to work in the Dhoom franchise, it has to be Dhoom 5. And there is reason behind it...

Apparently there is a joke that goes amongst Shah Rukh Khan's close friend circle that if Shah Rukh Khan is ever approached to do Dhoom he will be game for it. But not so soon! Yash Raj will have to make another two installments to be able to reach him for taking forward their Dhoom franchise. If it ever has to happen, Shah Rukh Khan will act in Dhoom 5 .

Does that sound weird? But SRK has logic behind it. With every part, the makers of Dhoom have raised the bar and introduced a new villain who was a bigger star that the earlier part. It started with John Abraham. Then they got Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2 and now they have Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 . So by the time they reach the fifth part and employ all the so-called superstars in their franchise, they would need the biggest superstar of them all to play the negative lead in Dhoom 5 . And that's when Shah Rukh Khan comes into picture!

No prizes for guessing who could be the villain in Dhoom 4 then!

SRK takes to doodling

The baadshah of Bollywood has been sketching the storyboard for RA.One himself

Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone unturned for his forthcoming film RA.One. So much so, that the star himself has started doodling the storyboard for the film along with artist Atul Chouthmal.

Khan insisted that Atul was called back after the director Anubhav Sinha got a new storyboard artist from Hollywood.

When contacted, Atul said, "I had already signed the contract with Red Chillies and had worked on the film.

However, they hired a Hollywood artist who had worked on films like Spiderman. He had a different vision and SRK sir was keen on me as he wanted someone from Mumbai.

He thought that someone from the city would know the roads well.

And all this happened even before I met SRK. I was called at Yash Raj Studios where he met me. He then took me to Filmcity in his car where we discussed the work. He had already doodled many sketches and he was very clear on how he wanted to go about the storyboard.

I used to have creative sessions with him before every schedule and then with Anubhav Sinha. The work has really turned out good."

"We used a Spiderman toy to make everyone understand the shot. More than 50 per cent of the crew were foreigners and the storyboard went a long way in explaining things to them. It was an amazing experience working with SRK.

I made a sketch of him and presented it to him. It is now a part of the wall in Mannat," added Atul who has earlier worked in over 20 Bollywood films including Veer, Krazzy 4, Kites, Love Story 2050, 1.40 Ki Last Local and Being Cyrus.
