kareena kapoor in kurbaan top stars

Kareena Kapoor (Hindi: करीना कपूर, pronouncedborn on September 21, 1980) often informally referred to as Bebo,is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. During her career, Kapoor has received five Filmfare Awards and has been noted for her performances in a range of film genres; these include her work from contemporary romantic dramas to comedies, period films to major Bollywood productions, as well as less publicised independent films.
Born into a family where both her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and her elder sister Karisma were actors, Kapoor faced the media spotlight from a very young age, but did not make her acting debut until the 2000 film Refugee. Her melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... became India's highest-grossing film in the overseas market in 2001, and is one of her biggest commercial successes to date After receiving negative reviews for a series of repetitive roles, Kapoor accepted more demanding parts in order to avoid being typecast and was consequently recognized by critics for displaying greater versatility as an actress. Her portrayal of a sex worker in Chameli (2004) proved to be the turning point in her career and she was later noted for her performances in the critically acclaimed Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006).In 2007, Kapoor received her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in Jab We Met, a romantic comedy directed by Imtiaz Ali. She went on to play the lead female role in the thriller Kurbaan (2009), for which she earned critical acclaim, and the drama 3 Idiots (2009), which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. Having done so, Kapoor has established herself as a leading actress of the Hindi film industry In addition to movie acting, Kapoor is a regular stage performer and has launched her own clothing line in association with being the brand ambassador for the retail chain Globus. Her off-screen life, including her relationship with actor Saif Ali Khan, is the subject of wide media coverage in India

Her performance was acclaimed by critics; Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama wrote that Kapoor "has a magnetic personality, which will make the viewer fall in love with her instantly. What surprises you is the ease with which she emotes the most difficult of scenes There is no denying the fact that she is a natural performer who is very camera friendly On the experience of making her first film, she described it as "...toughalso a great learning experience Refugee became the fifth highest-grossing film in India in 2000and Kapoor's performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female DebuIn 2001, Kapoor appeared opposite Tusshar Kapoor in the romantic drama Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, which became one of the highest earners of the year A review in The Hindu, in regards to her performance, noted that she was "definitely the actress to watch out for, if her debut with Abhishek in Refugee and now Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai are any indication Kareena shines throughout the flick, with the grace of a seasoned sizzler already next starred in Subhash Ghai's family drama Yaadein alongside Jackie Shroff and Hrithik Roshan. The drama centers on the character of Raj Singh Puri, a middle-class man, and his daughters' marriages. Kapoor played the part of the youngest daughter and Roshan's love interest, Isha Singh Puri. The film was met with negative reactions from reviewers and garnered poor box office returns.Kapoor then appeared in the Abbas-Mustan thriller Ajnabee. The feature was adapted from the 1992 American thriller film Consenting Adults, and was a moderate box office success in IndiaLater in the year, she starred in Santosh Sivan's period epic Asoka, a partly fictionalized account of the life of Ashoka the Great. It was widely screened across the United Kingdom and North America, and was also selected for screening at the Venice Film Festival and the 2001 Toronto International Film Festiva Featured opposite Shahrukh Khan who played Ashoka, Kapoor portrayed the character of Kaurwaki, a princess of Kalinga with whom Ashoka falls in love, and received her first Filmfare Best Actress nominationWhile the film received generally positive reviews, Kapoor's performance received a mixed reaction from critics. Rediff.com concluded that "while a large portion of the first half is focused on the emerging romance between the runaway prince and herself and to their credit they do manage to whip up some on-screen chemistry, I am still unsure as to her acting abilities."[30] Meanwhile, David Rooney from Variety wrote, "Kapoor plays ornately tattooed Kaurwaki as a lively mix of flirtatious coquette and feisty warrior woman, kind of like J.Lo meets Michelle YeohKapoor's final release of 2001 was Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., a melodrama, in which she was featured as part of an ensemble cast that included Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Karan Johar, the movie was a major financial and critical success and became India's second highest-grossing film of the year, as well as Kapoor's highest-grossing movie up until then. It also performed well internationally and became the biggest Bollywood success of all time in the overseas market up until then, earning over Indian Rupee1,000 million (US$22.1 million) worldwide Kapoor's performance as "Poo", a good-natured but superficial girl, was described as "one of the main ... highlights of the filand her portrayal earned her a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress nominatioDuring 2002 and 2003, Kapoor experienced a setback in her career. She was in six films—Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, Talaash: The Hunt Begins..., Khushi, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, and the four-hour war epic LOC Kargil—all of which proved critically and commercially unsuccessful in India Kapoor's performances were often identified by critics as unoriginal and repetitive, with little inspiration They expressed concern that she was becoming typecast, but these negative reviews were fundamental in motivating her to improve her integrity as an actress in subsequent years by accepting more demanding role

'Shah Rukh, Kareena kiss'

Actor Shah Rukh Khan will kiss Kareena Kapoor in 'Ra One'...

Actor Shah Rukh Khan who has been a decent man on screen and off screen all this while, will now go bold for his superhero flick 'Ra One'. There's news that Shah Rukh will do everything and anything necessary to make his movie a rage.

We hear that SRK will kiss on celluloid this time round. And it's the gorgeous Kareena Kapoor he'll lock lips with. The actors kiss each other in a song. It's nothing explicit, but something that can be termed as 'simple and sweet' we are told.

It can be remembered that Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, too, indulged in a romantic lip-to-lip in '3 Idiots'. "I've kissed on screen before, it's no big deal," says the Kapoor lass, who always looks forward to working with the Khans. "All four of them – Aamir, Salman, Shah Rukh, Saif – are so amazing that I always look forward to doing movies with them."

Top 5 topless babes of Bollywood

Owing to the demands of the script or that of the sequence in a film, Bollywood actress often goes topless, donning little or no clothes. One need not be judgmental about it so long the revealing posture does not infringe upon the artist’s comfort zone. Quite a few films directed by the legendary Raj Kapoor, featured women scantily clothed. But none of them looked ugly or atrocious for the director with his eye for detail could ensure the artistic appeal and beauty.

1.Kareena Kapoor
Qurbaan one of the releases of Karan Johar portrayed Kareena topless. The film dealing with terrorism which has become a worldwide phenomenon featured the off screen lovers Kareena and Saif as husband and wife. In enacting a close shot involving her beau Saif Kareena exposed her completely. Bebo looked perfectly comfortable and awesome in the romantic sequence.

2. Neha Dhupia
Hot and sizzling Neha Dhupia, who went out of reckoning for quite a while, has been quick to reassure her presence with a bang. As part of her campaign in favour of eco friendliness, Neha went topless to feature in a calendar. The calendar geared to the cause of saving environment has the stylish actress highlighting the various shades and elements constituting nature. The photography by Jatin Kampani is a perfect blend of sensuousness and aesthetics.

3. Bipasha Basu
It is nothing unusual for dusky Bengali bombshell, Bipasha Basu to go topless. Notwithstanding her bold ways, the reputed model and actress is endowed with the innate capability to carry herself with élan and dignity. Very recently Bips went sans clothes to feature on the front cover of a glamour magazine, appearing daring and stunningly glamorous as always.

4. Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat does not lag far behind when it comes to revealing. On account of not making much headway in acting, the actress has decided on a few item numbers. One of them will be enacted free of cost. To make her presence felt she has hit upon a topless pose to make it to the cover page of a well known men’s magazine. The topless beauty manages an unsuccessful blend of oriental and occidental. Red bindi and heavily designed jewellary in pearl and gold falls out of place with mini skirt and exposed chest.

5. Mandira Bedi
Unfortunately during the recently concluded World Cup Mandira Bedi could not make it to the commentary box along with some of the leading names in cricket. The whole nation was thus deprived of having a glimpse of her body hugging, transparent chiffons and spaghetti lined blouses. Much to the amazement of men, Mandira followed Mallika and Bipasha’s suit. She featured completely topless on the cover page of Vogue, a popular glamour magazine.

It is surprising and outrageous finding a great many of our actresses baring and going topless for the sake of highlighting themselves. Despite deleting the ethical angle of such stunts and overlooking the social context of our country, one does not understand the rational behind such moves. Apart from flaunting and catering to the sensuous appeal of a few men, they have no artistic purpose to serve. Neither do they serve to impress the producers and directors of Bollywood. For establishing ones root in acting there are other talents to be honed, rather than focus on cheap sensuousness.

Kareena, Karisma in black & White

Karisma Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Babita, Kareena Kapoor
Karisma Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Babita, Kareena Kapoor
This picture captured by veteran photographer Jagdish Aurangabadkar at a mahurat in RK Studios makes for the perfect family portrait.

Randhir Kapoor surrounded by the three women in his life, Babita, Karisma and the young Kareena in flowing long dresses, looks happy.

Taken probably during the 20-year-long separation between Babita and husband Randhir Kapoor, the picture talks a lot about the Kapoor family traditions that both hung on to even during the long years they stayed apart.

It is funny to see both Karisma and Kareena fully covered from neck to toe, whereas nowadays one hardly gets to see both the Kapoor sisters in that same avatar.

Bebo's chooses Aamir over Saif

The actress has decided to shoot for Aamir's film rather than finishing Saif's Agent Vinod, which is running behind schedule

Kareena Kapoor is indeed a professional to the core. She refused to give dates for her beau Saif Ali Khan's home production, Agent Vinod, as she had already committed all her dates for Reema Kagti's film, opposite Amir Khan.

The actress is busy until the end of June, although she still has some important action sequences to shoot for Agent Vinod. Thus, forcing the Agent Vinod team to put the film's shooting on hold.

A source tells us, "Kareena has allotted her dates in April, May and June to Reema Kagti's film, with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji.

Despite the fact that Agent Vinod has been delayed many times over for various reasons and now is in its last stage of production."

The source further added, "Most of the shooting is over. But there are still songs and sequences that require VFX. And yes, a schedule with Kareena is pending. But she's busy with another film. So, we'll just have to wait."

When one wonders why she didn't give priority to Agent Vinod over Kagti's film, Sriram quickly rises to his leading lady's defense, "She was committed to the other film from some time. But that's okay.

Saif and I will be busy with other scenes until she becomes free. I also have a couple of visual-effects scenes to put into place."

Well Bebo you don't seem to believe in the school of favouritism, poor Saif!

War is still on: Shahid invites all his ex-lovers but Kareena

The Kaminey star invited all his ex-lovers, but conveniently forgot Kareena, sending out a signal that things are far from normal between them
War is still on: Shahid invites all his ex-lovers but KareenaActor Shaid Kapur invited several Bollywood buddies, including the actresses with whom he had alleged romps in the past, at his birthday bash in a suburban lounge bar on February 25. But Bebo's name was missing in the guest list.

Says a source present at the party, "He had invited all the girls he had been linked with in the past such as Amrita Rao, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra (with whom he had split just before his bash!), but Kareena was omitted!"

Apologies for absence

But none of Shahid's "former girlfriends" turn up at his party pleading preoccupation.

According to the source, Vidya was unwell, so she couldn't make it to the party. If Amrita had prior commitments, Priyanka was busy shooting in the US.

Though Shahid and Bebo have moved on, at least this is what they want us to assume, they are still not cordial to each other.

A source close to Kareena says, "There are some issues that need to be sorted out. Though Shahid and Kareena are amiable to each other in public and wish each other well in life.

Even Kareena wouldn't invite Shahid to her parties so it doesn't matter. "

"The actress was in Bhopal spending time with beau Saif Ali Khan during her ex-boyfriend's birthday. So she wouldn't have been able to attend the birthday party even if she had she been invited, " the source said.

Shocking pink for Katrina, blue for Ash!

With Holi just round the corner, ace fashion designers give their take on Holi fashion and the colours that would go well with the Bollywood actresses.

Every Fashion designer loves to play with colours. In the ongoing fashion week, Renuka Vyavahare spoke to noted designers on what's their take on the festival and colour of the season.

Delhi designer Parvesh said, "White goes with almost every complexion and is the best colour you can wear for Holi as it will showcase all the other colours on it beautifully. Wearing old clothes is what we do mostly but white is what is ideal."

Talking about actresses, he added, "However if I had design for actresses, I'd give shocking pink for Katrrina for she has this lovely peach complexion, Blue for Ash for she looks stunning in blue, Baby pink for Kareena, Yellow for Kareena as she is extremely fair, Yellow for Priyanka for she pulls off that colour really well and white for Rani as she is so earthy and beautiful."

Renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee said, "White is the colour of Holi. It can never go wrong and one should't even think of any other colour for this day. All the actresses would look fab in this colour."

Orissa based designer Manas Ranjan Dash added, "A white flowing Anarkali would be fab for Holi as even if you get wet, the fabric won't cling onto your body because of the flair as other clothes would. As far as actresses are concerned I'd love to see Katrina, Kareena in pinks and Rani, Ash in red."

Ad-vantage B-Town bombshells

Nothing sells like cricket in the Indian subcontinent as it's a heady combo of action, glam and entertainment. The action is big on the small screen.

The ad revenues are mind-blowing and has shown a consistent rise in the last few years. This year, immediately after the World Cup (WC), the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be back. Sample this: while cricket is expected to earn an ad revenue of Rs 1,800 crore from its television telecast this year (up from Rs 1,500 crore in 2010, as it showcases the World Cup and the Indian Premier League in back-to-back events). How big cricket ad revenue is can be gauged from the fact that the ad revenue of 2011 is expected to touch Rs 700-800 crore as compared to the Rs 300 crore of the inaugural edition of IPL.

Cashing in on the cricket fever are Bollywood hotties. In the midst of chasing targets, flying sixes, you can see B-Town beauties endorsing brands. According to various industry sources, the ladies leading the race are Kareena Kapoor (approximately Rs 2.5-3 crore per endorsement), Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif (about Rs 2-2.5 crore per endorsement), Deepika Padukone (about Rs 1.5-2 crore per endorsement) and Genelia (about Rs 1.5 crore per endorsement).

Evergreen celeb fact: When it comes to endorsements nothing sells more than a celeb peddling the fare. Even media analysts agree on this. According to a recent study, the top recalled ads during the Annual Academy Awards 2011 had four ads endorsed by celebrities. Cut to WC 2011 where the target consumer gets to see more of Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Genelia et al.

According to ad whiz Santosh Desai, "Celebrities ensure attention. Certain amount of visibility and attention will benefit any brand. During a WC match telecast, the same people who watch the matches watch ads too. So, there is a correspondence between the two."

Rajneesh Krishna, senior professor of a leading communications management institute feels, "The presence of a Bollywood actor breaks the clutter and if the personality of the actor is in consonance with the brand, then it clicks."

'Brand fit' is the name of the game. Chandan Nath, president of a leading ad agency feels "Priyanka could be the next big thing among celeb endorsers", while ad man Prathap Suthan hedges his bets on Deepika, who he says is the right mix of the "modern and traditional, sporty and the demure." Brand consultant Anand Halve, says, "Until last year, it was a tie between Priyanka and Kareena. But today Katrina is seen as someone who with a lot of potential as she retains a sense of authenticity in the ads."

As the battle of the B-Town bombshells gets spicier by the day, the BO success rate too will significantly tilt the scales in their favour, in the coming months. Until then, the headturners will continue to grab eyeballs and rake in the big bucks.

Why Kareena can't be Madhur's Heroine

Madhur's long wait has finally ended. For Kareena that is. After waiting for over a year to sign her for his ambitious project, Heroine, Madhur has given up and moved on.

At one point, he was adamant that only Kareena could essay the central character, and after months of conversation and convincing, the project is heroine-less. While most of us thought it was the usual date problems (considering the Khans have taken up most of her year), Kareena reveals exclusively to zoOm, the real reason for this. "I'd love to work with Madhur, he's an amazing director, but the script that he's doing is not something I'm looking at doing right now".

There you go, this sums up one part of the story. Nevertheless, she adds, "I loved Page 3 and Fashion and I'd love to work with a director of his repute". Rumour has it that Aishwarya and Katrina are now in the running for the same role, and when Bebo was quizzed about who she thought best fits Heroine, she said, "It's Madhur's decision in the end, but I think both Katrina and Aishwarya will suit the role."

Saif likes me in bikini: Bebo

Kareena Kapoor is undoubtedly one of the most versatile actresses of the decade gone by. But it is Bebo's sex appeal that comes up for discussion at regular intervals.

On being asked why even the most recognised actresses crave for titles like sexy and hot, Bebo in her candid style says, "I love being called sexy. But then I'm equally charged about being recognised as a good actress. In my case, I first won notices for my work and then when the size zero phase happened, people started noticing my physical attributes. To me, the important fact is that I have got recognition as an actor. Now being called pretty, sexy, hot, powerful or any such thing is also flattering."

Ms Sensuous Kapoor, however, has vowed not to wear bikinis on screen anymore. And her reasons for this decision are surprising. One would imagine it is her boyfriend Saif Ali KhanTashan who had put a spoke in the wheel. But Bebo says, "The bikini is a highly overrated garment. For me it has lost its' novelty. I have worn it twice on screen. In (2008) and in Kambakkht Ishq (2009). However my fans preferred me in Jab We Met (2007), 3-Idiots (2009) and Golmaal-3 (2010) where I stayed steered clear of exposing. I don't have the patience to go through the whole regimen that needs to be in place for your body to look bikini-perfect. So I've decided that I will not wear a bikini on screen again."

The actress however admits that we will get to see a flash of thigh and cleavage in some of her upcoming movies. Says Kareena, "The songs of RA.1 are hot, but in Bodyguard there is no skin show. In Agent Vinod too there is more style and pizzazz than any actual exposure. In Short Term Shaadi I'm playing a bohemian character."

Oh, and what are Saif's views on her decision not to wear bikini again? Does he also share her fans' view point? Flashing a naughty smile, her brown-eyes twinkling with laughter, Bebo says, "Saif likes me in a bikini. He has no issues with it. Saif actually prefers me glamourous. He liked me in Kambakkht Ishq; he thought I was very hot in it. He says that it is his personal choice but he doesn't necessarily want me to abide by it. Saif likes it when I use a bit of make-up and dress fashionably rather than when I step out looking like a plain-Jane."
